ArmaDB

Human Focus gives the zoom a cost. It becomes weaker when the player moves, looks to the side, or is tired, and it follows the pace of the player instead of switching.

THE PERIPHERY GOES DARK AS YOU ZOOM IN A shaped overlay darkens the edge of the screen in proportion to the zoom the mod gave you. The clear centre is an ellipse: wider than it is tall, and it sits a little below the middle of the screen, where the sight is. It closes in as you press further. THE PERIPHERY ALSO GOES SOFT A second effect softens and drains the colour outside a sharp round centre, on the same rule. It runs beside the vignette. BOTH EFFECTS ARE COSMETIC They run on the client and they change no value that anybody can shoot with. A player without the mod sees the vanilla screen. Neither effect ever touches the sight picture the base game gives a player who raises a weapon. IF YOU UPGRADE FROM v0.0.3 -------------------------- 1. Put the new mod on the server and on each client. 2. Write down your own values from $profile:HumanFocus/config.json. 3. DELETE that file, then start the server one time. The server writes a new file with the new keys and their comments. 4. Put your own values back, then start the server again. A server that does not delete the file also operates. The new keys are then missing, the server warns once for each, and each uses its default value, which is ON. To return to the vanilla zoom, set enabled to false. To keep the zoom and return the vanilla screen, set paracentralEnabled and vignetteEnabled to false.

Description from the Workshop

The focus zoom is free in the vanilla game. Hold the button and the view goes narrow, at a full run, out of breath, looking over your shoulder. It costs you nothing. That zoom is close to what your own eye would see if the screen were not in the way. It is not a scope, and taking it away is not the answer. But your eye is not a switch either. A soldier who slows down picks out more. A soldier who runs picks out less. Neither of them changes in an instant, and neither of them does it while gasping for breath or looking over one shoulder. So Human Focus keeps the zoom and puts a price on it. The zoom is not smaller. You have to settle down to collect it. WHAT CHANGES FOR YOU -------------------- 1. YOUR PACE DECIDES HOW MUCH ZOOM YOU GET. Stand still and you get all of it. Walk and you keep most of it. Run or sprint and you keep the least. The mouse wheel is the control. A slow careful advance is worth real zoom. Pushing the pace costs you sight, and you choose the trade every time you touch the wheel. 2. THE VIEW EASES. IT DOES NOT SNAP. Change your pace and the zoom follows you smoothly instead of jumping to the new value. Roll the wheel through several steps at once and the view makes one movement, not one for every step. A quick tap of a movement key does not disturb the view at all. 3. LOOKING AWAY COSTS YOU THE ZOOM. Turn your head well off to the side while you are moving and the zoom fades out. Keep turning and it is gone, and you are left with your own field of view. Standing still, you can look wherever you like and keep it. 4. OUT OF BREATH MEANS NO ZOOM. Run yourself down and the zoom stops until you have recovered. 5. THE SERVER DECIDES HOW STRONG THE ZOOM IS. Servers can make the zoom weaker than vanilla. They can also make it slower, so that it becomes something you commit to rather than something you flick on and off. WHAT DOES NOT CHANGE -------------------- - The zoom is still there. T...
