Description from the Workshop
The aim of this mod is to adjust the properties of the radios to be more realistic. Current changes: - Removed the radial VONMenu so that all radio manipulation has to be done via interaction - Player name is no longer visible to others when talking via proximity chat or radio - It is now possible to transmit across factions with a captured enemy radio - Overhauled the radio voice effects to make radios sound like actual 80s military radios - Added squelch open and close sound effects when receiving transmissions - Limited the number of transceivers(called channels ingame) per radio to 1 - Handheld radios have to be held in hand to transmit - Radios are turned off by default - Backpack radios no longer act as spawn points - Backpack radio knobs can now be adjusted when its dropped on the ground - Increased PRC-77, R-170M and RF-10 radio ranges to 8km - Changed PRC-77 frequency range to 30MH <-> 75.95MHz - Changed PRC-77 frequency step to 50 Khz - Changed R-170M frequency range to 20MHz <-> 52MHz - Changed R-170M frequency step to 10 KHz (1 is the real value but too difficult to adjust in game currently) - Changed RF-10 frequency range to 44MH <-> 53.975MHz - Changed RF-10 frequency step to 25 KHz - Decreased PRC-68 range to 500m - Changed PRC-68 frequency range to 38.000 MHz <-> 42.500 MHz, with a 500KHz step to simulate the 10 programmable channel limit - Changed US platoon net from 48 MHz to 42 MHz - Reduced R-148 range to 500m - Changed R-148 min and max frequencies to 37MHz and 51.95MHz. - Changed R-148 frequency step to 50KHz - Added experimental vehicle radios to UH-1H, Mi-8MT, LAV-25, BRDM-2 and BTR-70 - Crew helmet is required to connect to a vehicle radio - Removed the unrealistic encryption from all radios (they can now all talk to each other) - Added working radio volume control knob to most infantry and vehicle radios (currently it is a global volume for all radios) Unfortunately not much can be changed about the radios or the VON system.
