2.1.0 A big one. Most of it came out of building a tandem rotor conversion, so modders get a lot of new framework. Players get the engine keybinds back, a flight assist you can actually see, weight that follows people around the aircraft, a better Mi-8 rotor and a handful of fixes. Full notes: https://dice614.github.io/rfm-docs/release-notes/ FOR PLAYERS New - Engine keybinds work: hold R (gamepad: hold Y) starts, Ctrl+R stops, same as vanilla. The start/stop hints follow the real engine now. Holding R again while it runs no longer shuts it down. - The vanilla autohover icon and hints work on RFM aircraft. The RFM HUD has a new ASSIST line: your control device, then AUTOHOVER, DRIFT HOLD, ALT and HDG. - New setting: Hover drift damping (Settings > RFM). Gamepad, and HOTAS with the assist on. How hard the assist leans against drift when you let go of the stick at low speed. 0 just holds level. - People standing on board get weighed where they stand (cabin, ramp, roof, skids). Walk to the back and the CG moves back. Getting out or falling off takes the weight off within a second. - SHS Drive By riders are weighed at their actual position (they used to weigh nothing). No dependency. - Swapping seats, taking a drive-by seat or standing up never counts anyone twice. - Mi-8 rotor: the mast doesn't lean anymore. Each blade flaps on its own hinge like the real thing. Changed - Articulated rotors pass loads to the airframe like a real hinged rotor, so much less blade shake reaches the airframe (Mi-8). - The settings tab says which devices each input setting is for. - Fuel tanks get rechecked every few seconds, for fuel mods that add or swap tanks after spawn. Fixed - The rotor swirl could blow up at high speed and throw off fast forward flight. Fixed for every aircraft, hover unchanged. - Someone standing inside the aircraft in flight could make it think it was on the ground. - Your own riders, stores or people underneath could read as ground to the skids, wheels and rotor. Skids and wheels don't rest on people anymore. - The Mi-8's blade strike check uses the real blade coning. - Less log spam from the armed UH-1 and Mi-8. FOR MODDERS - Flight-control system: SAS channels, trim actuators, autopilot mode blocks (attitude, heading, speed, altitude, velocity, position, navigation), scheduled crossfeeds, sensor/power gates, FCS-driven surfaces, in-game panel, profile checker and bench. Off unless you give an aircraft a profile. - Tandem/multi-rotor: LCT schedule on the control map, rotor phase lock, Rotor Zones damage for extra rotors (networked, with slot lookup), Rotor Id on signal bindings (smoothed per frame), Reverse Pedal Steer. - Physics: Hinge Inertia Relief (on by default), Body Yaw Moment Incidence Shaped/Phase, Body Moment Reference Incidence (off by default). - Visuals: BLADE_FLAP_DEG / BLADE_LAG_DEG signals with Smooth Blade Flap, Create If Missing works for graph variables, Spin Pivot, Spin Axis now tips the model onto the physics shaft, Draw Rotor Visual Axis, Hold Rotor Visuals. - Diagnostics: Blade Motion Diagnostic + Draw Blade Motion, [RFM-BLADE-STN], [RFM-ROTOR-LOADS] with load rings, [RFM-YAW] + yaw sketch, [RFM-FLARE] per rotor, Dump Bones for child entities.

Description from the Workshop

Rotorcraft Flight Model (RFM) is a physics framework that allows accurate representation of the physical flight characteristics of real-world helicopters. This is a public TEST build. It flies, but there will be bugs, and I'm one person, so I can't find them all on my own. If something breaks, please report it (see the bottom). Instead of vanilla's scripted handling, RFM flies off the forces the aircraft actually makes. Every rotor blade is simulated as it turns, the engines and gearbox actually drive the rotor, and the weight and balance change as you load up, burn fuel and fire. DOCS Player guide, modder guide and release notes: https://dice614.github.io/rfm-docs/ AIRCRAFT RFM versions sit next to the vanilla helicopters in Game Master and the Conflict vehicle lists. Vanilla helicopters aren't changed. - UH-1H: transport, armed, HE/HEDP gunships, shark-nose gunships, civilian - Mi-8MT: transport, armed, HE/HEDP gunships, civilian (red/blue) WHAT'S SIMULATED - Rotor blades: lift, drag, stall and flapping on every blade. Teetering rotor on the UH-1, articulated rotor with lead-lag on the Mi-8. - Tail rotor torque, translational lift, ground effect and retreating-blade stall. - Engines, gearbox and governor: real start-ups, rotor RPM that can droop and overspeed, autorotation, single-engine flight and a rotor brake on the Mi-8. - Weight and balance: fuel, crew, cargo, supplies and weapons all change the weight and CG live. - Wind that changes with height, terrain and buildings, with gusts and thermals from the game's weather. - Skids and wheels with suspension, and nose-wheel steering on the Mi-8. - Damage uses the vanilla hit zones: engines, gearbox, drive shafts and rotors fail on their own, and repairs carry over. - Rotor strikes on trees, buildings, terrain and water. - Mi-8 AP-34B autopilot (attitude, heading and altitude hold). CONTROLS - Uses the vanilla helicopter keybinds. Pick your device in Settings > RFM (Auto by default). - Keyboard, mouse and game...
